Exhibiton Private View: A Journey Through West Cornwall and The Cornish Paintings of Martina Thomas

When

January 26, 2024
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Martina Thomas (1924 – 1995) was born in east London and lived most of her life in Sussex, but she was inspired by her visits to Cornwall with her husband Eric Mellon and their children.

In celebration of the centenary year of the artist’s birth and to mark her dedication to painting the landscapes, harbours and fishermen of Cornwall, Martina Thomas’s family have chosen a selection of her Cornish artworks and rarely-exhibited examples of her later work. Gallery 1

Join us on a journey through West Cornwall, incorporating Marazion, Penzance, Newlyn, Mousehole, Land’s End, Sennen, Zennor and St Ives. Featuring urban, rural and coastal landscapes and lesser-known topographical works from the Penlee House collection, we’ve curated a selection of watercolours, oils and photographs celebrating the local landscape.
